A fiercely strong woman with the courage to be herself on a worldwide scale. Today’s Woman Crush Wednesday is Frida Kahlo!
Practically the inventor of the selfie, Frida Kahlo was a Mexican painter who predominantly painted self-portraits. She was born in 1907 and planned to be a doctor, but a bus accident left her with severe injuries that would pain her for the rest of her life. Despite all limitations Frida began to paint and express herself, never holding back her opinions and fighting against what women could and couldn’t do. Her self-portraits were full of stark honesty and her other paintings drew influence from indigenous Mexican culture and history.
Over her lifetime, Frida Kahlo created 140 painting alongside her drawings and studies. It never mattered that her health was fragile or that obstacles stood in the path of all female artists at this time, she persisted. Her motto was,
“At the end of the day, we can endure much more than we think we can.”
An inspiration to all of us!
